#ATMLIV: Diego Simeone’s men silent Liverpool attackers

Atletico Madrid kept Liverpool attack at bay for the entire 90 minutes of action with the home team notching an early goal to wrap up the first leg of their round of 16 Champions League encounter 1-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday evening.

Atletico Madrid took the lead in the 4th minute of the clash after a corner kick was poorly dealt with by the Liverpool defence allowing a ball to slip through the box to Saul Niguez and put it past goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

The Liverpool goalkeeper was called on duty once again but this time he denied Alvaro Morata from getting the second goal.

The half time ended 1-0 in favour of the host team.

The second half started with Liverpool in search of an away goal but the home team seems to be too solid defensively as they prove too hard for the Champions to crack at the backline.

The game ended 1-0 in favour of Diego Simeone’s men.

Atletico Madrid will travel to Anfield for the reverse fixture of the tie in the coming weeks.
