Headache for Rohr as two stars battle for starting spot

Headache for Gernot Rohr as two Super Eagles players of Joe Aribo and Ramon Azeez battle for the starting spot for Brazil international friendly in Singapore on Sunday afternoon.

Stoke City star Oghenekaro Etebo will be not participating in the Grade A encounter against the five-time world champions due to visa issues with Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi already assured of a place in the starting lineup.

Nigeria coach Rohr is yet to make up his mind on who will join Leicester City man and Everton summer signing in the three-man midfielder with Rangers ace scored on his debut for the Super Eagles against Ukraine last month after putting an impressive performance against Andriy Shevchenko’s men in Dnipro.

There is still concern over his fitness of Aribo following the head injury he picked in a League Cup game against Livingston three weeks ago.

Azeez returns back to the national set-up for the first time since 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil but he has been in form for the promoted La Liga side Granada this season even scoring in the 2-0 victory over Barcelona in September.

Etebo is the latest Nigeria stars to miss the high profile international friendly against the five-time world champions after Ola Aina, Kenneth Omeruo, Samuel Kalu and long term absentee Ahmed Musa all of whom have also been ruled out due to injury.
