Osimhen scores again as Lille maintain 100% home record

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scores again as Lille maintain 100 percent home record after a 2-1 victory over Angers at Stade Pierre-Mouroy Stadium on Friday night.

The 20-year-old Lagos-born was fresh from getting his debut international goal in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw away at Ukraine as he started his fourth Ligue 1 game of the season as former Wolfsburg break the deadlock in the 39 minutes after goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle spilled a shot taken by Jonathan Bamba to scored his fifth goal of the season.

Osimhen’s goal did open the game up as Lille increased their tally eight minutes after the break via the boots of Luiz Arujo before the visitors got a late consolation three minutes from time as the hosts maintained their 100% home record.

Cameroonian forward Stephane Bahoken reduced the deficit for visitors three minutes from time.

Osimhen became the first player to score five goals or more in his first 5 Ligue 1 games since Mario Balotelli in September-October 2016, according to the statisticians at OPTA.
