Kiev 0-5 CHE: Giroud scores hat-trick in Chelsea easy win

Olivier Giroud scored a hat-trick in Chelsea 5-0 win against Dynamo Kiev in the Olimpisky Stadium in Kiev as the Blues qualified for the next round with 8-0 aggregate over the Ukrainian team.

Chelsea hit the ground running with a five-minute goal via Olivier Giroud after he received a sublime pass from Ruben Loftus Cheek.

Chelsea maintained possession and created problems for Dynamo Kiev, in the 33rd minute it was Giroud again that met a perfect cross from Marcos Alonso to make it 2-0.

Chelsea grabbed the third goal after Marcos Alonso slotted the ball in from a close range after he received a perfect pass from Callum Hudson-Odoi in the additional time of the first half.

The first half ended 3-0 in favour of the home Chelsea.

Dynamo Kiev responded well in the second half but they were denied by the woodwork in the 51st minute. Chelsea dictated the entire proceedings as the home team were made to chase the ball.

Giroud completed his hat-trick in the 59th minute following a superb header from Willian free-kick. Alonso almost scored from a free-kick but his effort was parried to the cross-bar and it was brilliantly cleared off the line by Dynamo Kiev defender.

N’Golo Kante was substituted for Jorginho, Cesar Azpilicueta was brought in to replaced Zappacosta in the 68th minute. Maurizio Sarri made his last substitute as Willian was withdrawn for Pedro in the 74th minute.

Hudson-Odi made it 5-0 after he was released in the midfield by Loftus-Cheek pass in the 79th minute.

Chelsea secured qualification to the next round with 8-0 aggregate.
