Manchester City return to the top of Premier League table

Aymeric Laporte’s header and Gabriel Jesus’ goals in the stoppage time of the first and second half respectively powered Manchester City to the top of the Premier League table as Pep Guardiola’s men defeat Everton 2-0 at the Goodison Park on Wednesday evening to claim the top spot on the log.

Manchester City started the game in an offensive mode as they aim to hit the ground running in the opening minute and just on the third minute Leroy Sane shot on the edge of the box went wide off the post.

Sergio Aguero also tried his luck from outside the box but it was well blocked by Everton defender, the closest opportunity for Manchester City came in the 19th minute by Aguero’s effort was denied by the crossbar.

Though Manchester City looked brighter and sharper with their moves than Everton Marco Silva’s men looked very solid in the defence.

in the stoppage time, Aymeric Laporte broke the deadlock after he managed to head in the ball from a well-timed David Silva free-kick into the box to give Cityzens the lead in the opening 45 minutes.

Manchester City made several attempts but none resulted in a goal as they aimed to double their lead in the second half of the clash.

Gabriel Jesus was introduced with 10 minutes to go as Aguero was substituted by Pep Guardiola to add a fresh leg to the attack.

The Brazilian found the back of the net in the stoppage time to make it 2-0.

With the victory, Manchester City went top of the table over Liverpool who has a game in hand.
