Juve star snub Man United for shock move to Qatar

Juventus defender Medhi Benatia turned down Manchester United as he preferred to join Qatar outfit Al-Duhail on Friday night.

The 31-year-old Morocco international moves to Allianz Stadium from Bayern Munich in 2016 and has played 41 times in Serie A, helping the team to win two Italian league titles and two Coppa Italias.

Benatia struggling for a game this season since the Leonardo Bonnuci return the club for the second time from AC Milan as Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri preferred two Italian centre-back ahead of Moroccan skipper.

There were links to numerous clubs in Italy, Europe and beyond, including Olympique Marseille and Milan however, according to Sportitalia claim Manchester United made a formal offer on Thursday night and were prepared to match the €10m fee.

Benatia demanded €4.5m per year wages, the proposal from Red Devils was ‘only’ €3.7m, so he chose the Qatar Stars League instead as Al-Duhail offered him signing a three-year contract worth €5m plus bonuses.

Juventus have already replaced Benatia with Martin Caceres, paying Lazio €600,000, and his medical will be on Saturday morning.
