Nigeria Needs Leaders in 2019, Not Looters, Says Ex-Lawmaker

Former member, House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, has said Nigeria needs selfless leaders and not looters in 2019, hence the need for Nigerians to pray for the success of the general elections as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate for Ekiti Central said prayers became imperative in view of the significance of the elections to the survival of Nigeria’s democracy and its growth in all spheres.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, Bamidele said: “This is not a time to dine and wine alone, but to take stock about how we live our lives.

“Jesus Christ was born to redirect our psyche to that of righteousness and truthfulness, which are hallmarks of effective leadership.

“That is why we must not be carried away by the euphoria of the moment. We should pray to God to give Nigeria leaders that can live up to expectations of the people. We need leaders and not looters.

“What the country needs at this time are leaders that would be selfless, sacrificial and God-fearing, the way Jesus Christ displayed in His time,” he said.
