Barcelona star taken to court by Adidas over contract breach

Barcelona star Rafinha Alcantara has been taken to court by Adidas, over an alleged breach of contract according to a report from Spain.

The German sportswear giant are demanding that the 25-year-old Brazil international pays almost £90,000 compensation fee or each day he refuses to wear the company’s boots.

According to Adidas claiming that Rafinha has failed to keep the end of his contract by not wearing the boots and sporting equipment as well as clothing during public appearances, during their agreement signing back in 2013 but the agreement expired on June 30 earlier this year.

Adidas’ lawyer Dolf Segaar said the case is being handled at an Amsterdam court as “the Adidas venture with whom Rafinha signed a contract is based in the Dutch capital”

However, Barcelona attacking midfielder chose to wear Mizuno boot and opted to black them out while the Adidas case gets sorted the German sports giants claim that Rafinha did not respond to any extension requests, thus allowing them to automatically extend it until March 2023.

Rafinha has played five La Liga matches and two Champions League games this season before he tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during last month’s draw with Atletico Madrid and he has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
