Barca legend claims Solari is not ready for Madrid job

Barcelona legend Rivaldo has reacted to Real Madrid appointment of Santiago Solari as a replacement for Julen Lopetegui.

Rivaldo opined that the provisional manager lack the credential to manage Real Madrid and he might enjoy the same level of success as Zinedine Zidane during his spell at the club on an interim basis, according to report in Marca.

“He [Solari] will stay for one or two matches, then Madrid will reach an agreement with a new coach,” Rivaldo said.

“For now Solari is a good option who knows the club and the players, but I don’t think he will stay for long because he isn’t ready yet.

“I hope he doesn’t repeat the success that Zidane had in a similar period of transition.

“With all due respect for Solari’s work, he doesn’t appear to have the requirements, for now, to become Real Madrid’s official coach.”

Rivaldo believes Antonio Conte is a better option for the European Champions but talks with the Italian manager was stalled on Monday evening and it looks unlikely that the former Juventus and Chelsea coach will be considered.

“He is an experienced coach and a good option for Madrid,” he continued.

“Bringing in a coach with discipline could be useful since maybe the players have been a little relaxed after success in recent years.”
