‘It’s Great To Be Back’, Says Saraki After Attending PDP NEC Meeting

Bujola Saraki, Senate President, has spoken of the great feeling of returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Saraki defected to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, and followed that up on Thursday by leading ex-APC governors Samuel Ortom of Benue State and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State to a meeting of his new party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

After the meeting, Sararki tweeted: “Great to be back in Wadata House for the 81st National Executive Committee meeting of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). I feel very much at home.

“As I return to the party where I started my political career, I vow to continue to work towards growing our democracy, enshrining inclusive governance and achieving peace and security across the nation.”

Saraki faces a battle to retain his position as Senate President, following claims by the APC that his new party is in the minority in the upper chamber. Image

On Wednesday, some PDP members of the House of Representatives alleged that APC senators were plotting to illegally convene a sitting of the Senate with the intention of impeaching Saraki.

They, therefore, vowed, to keep vigil at the National Assembly to prevent such an occurrence.

The Senate will reconvene on September 25
