Ex-Convict In Court For Burglary In Osun

The Police in Osun State on Monday arraigned a 32 year old man who is also an ex convict, Shaheed Ganiyu before an Osogbo Magistrate Court in Osun State for burgling into a house and stealing the sum of N50,000.

Ganiyu was docked on four counts charge of stealing, felony and unlawful escape from police custody.

The prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that Ganiyu broke into the house of one Abosede Fayemi with the intent to commit felony on November 11 at Agunbelewo area in Osogbo.

Abiodun said the accused stole a Hp laptop, iPhone, Blackberry phone, Firstbank ATM card, jeweleries putting the value of items stolen from Abosede’s residence to about N250,000.

The prosecutor also stated that the accused escaped from police custody where he was detained.

He stated further that the accused has been involved in different cases of house burglary and stealing with him granted bail on different occasions at the same Magistrarte Court.

Inspector Abiodun argued that the offense contravenes section 411(1)(2), 390(9) , 135(b) of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2002.

The accused pleaded not guilty to all the four counts charge.

The defense counsel Mr Okobe Najite prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.

He said the accused is ready to provide a reliable surety if granted bail.

The magistrate, Mrs Fatimoh Sodamade granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety.

She said surety must a civil servant level 12 and must provide evidence of three years tax clearance.

The case was adjourned to December 12 for hearing.
