Man Remanded Two Weeks After Conviction For Stealing Live Turkey In Osun

A 39 year old man identified as Stephen Odokuma has been remanded in Ilesha prison for stealing food items and half bag of dried cocoa.

Odokuma who was convicted for stealing live turkey a forth-night ago was arraigned on Thursday in company of Emmanuel Collins aged 35 on a five count charge bothering on conspiracy, felony and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Lamidi Rasaq told the court that the two conspired to commit felony to wit shop breaking on the 22nd of October, 2017 at Esa Ola’s compound, Oba-Ile in Osogbo.

In his full acccount, Lamidi said that “Odokuma and Collins broke and entered into the shop of Ibrahim Sukurat and Jimoh Muideen compound and stolen some food items identified as 3 sachets of spaghetti, sachets of curry powder, 5 bar soap one sachet of good mama, detergent, 2 perfumes, 2 sachet of Chickens flavor, Maggi cube 6tin of milk, 4 four toothpaste, 3 toothbrush, room fresher, modules of Rice, beans, 6 pies of Tiger head batteries, starch, hypo bleach and some quantities of sugar all valued N26,000.

“The items stolen also includes a half bag of dried cocoa valued at N80,000.”

Police prosecutor explained that the offense contravenes section 516, 413, 383, 390(9), of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2002.

The first accused person, Odokuma having no legal representation pleaded guilty to the count charge while Collins who was represented by Mrs Dada Adeyinka pleaded not guilty to all the five counts against him.

The counsel to the second accused, Mrs Dada Adeyinka prayed the court to grant the accused bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.

The magistrate, Mrs Fatimoh Sodamade while delivering judgment ordered that the first accused be remanded in Ilesha prison while the second accused should be admitted bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety.

She thereby adjourned the case to December 4, for hearing.
