Man Remanded For Alleged Theft Of N25,000 In Osun

An Osun State Magistrates Court sitting in Osogbo presided over by Chief Magistrate Fatimoh Sodamade has ordered that a 31 year old man, Mbakwe Nwanchor be remanded in Ilesha prisons over alleged theft of N25,000.

Mbakwe was arraigned alongside one Edeh Nwoke who is 22 years old on Wednesday on a three counts charge bothering on Conspiracy, felony to wit Assault and Stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Ajayi told the court that the two accused persons and others at large conspired to commit stealing and assault at Balogun Agoro Street in Osogbo.

Ajayi said the duo assaulted Kingsley Chukwu and stole a cash sum of N25,000 belonging to him.

He explained that the duo used bottle and stick to inflict injury on Kingsley Chukwu, their neighbour over a minor argument.

Ajayi added that the offense contravenes section 516, section 355 and section 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2003.

The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defense counsel, Mr Jones Promise applied for their bail.

Chief Magistrate Sodamade in her ruling ordered that Mbakwe be remanded in Ilesha prison and granted Edeh bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
She said the offense committed by duo is a bailable offence but the first accused person responded in an rude manner to the court.

She thereby adjourned the case to October 4 for hearing.
