President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, an Assistant Inspector General of Police, IGP, from Niger State, as the new acting Inspector General, the News Agency of Nigeria has reported.
Mr. Idris’ appointment follows the retirement of Solomon Arase as he clocks the compulsory retirement age of 60.
Mr. Idris was the AIG in charge of operations at the force headquarters, Abuja.
The new IGP was summoned to the presidential villa earlier today to meet with the President.
