Chevron Donates N50 Million Projects To Delta Communities

Three communities in Delta state  have been empowered with projects worth N50 million by oil giant, Chevron Nigeria limited.

The projects commissioned by Chevron on Thursday include a solar-powered borehole at Edjeba Primary School; two 500KVA transformers at Osubi Community in Okpe Local Government area and six classroomsat Egharegbemi Primary School, Ubeji.

Chevron also, in partnership with some of its employees donated  books and electronic teaching aids such as laptops/projectors and generators to five schools, Ogbe Secondary School, Ekpan Secondary School, Alegbo Secondary School, Ugborikoko Secondary School and Ugbmro Secondary School.

The Delta state  government applauded the gesture  and urged for continued partnership to boost education in Delta state.

Secretary to the State Government, Comrade Ovuozuorie Macaulay, who was represented at the event noted  that “the gesture by the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture supports the State government’s agenda of Infrastructure and human capital development, adding that the provision of potable water for the school children was aimed at sustaining the healthy living of the “leaders of tomorrow.”

Macaulay charged the community members and the schools’ management to put the facilities provided for them to good use, protect them and to ensure that they are maintained for the betterment of the school children and the communities as a whole.

The General Manager, Policy Government and Public Affairs (PGPA), Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), Mr. Deji Haastrup, who was represented by Mr. Trust Inimgba, the Superintendent, Policy Government and Public Affairs, CNL Warri noted that the company was committed to enhancing partnership with relevant stakeholders to achieve the goal of sustainable development of communities around its areas of operations in the Niger Delta.

According to him  “Chevron believes that education is the key to national and societal development and that is why CNL was committed to educational development as one of the thematic areas in its social performance programmes.”
