Only PDP Govs Were Invited To The National Security Meeting With Jonathan – Gov Akpabio


Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa-Ibom state has said that governors under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), were not invited to the security meeting held on Thursday at the presidential villa.

He said the governors will were only invited for the meeting of all the 36 state governors which President Goodluck Jonathan summoned and have fixed for next Wednesday.

The summon of the 36 state governor which will include the APC governors came after an enlarged security meeting held today with governors elected on the platforms of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), APGA and Labour Party as well as members of the National Security Council.

Addressing State House reporters after the meeting, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio revealed that today’s meeting was strictly for PDP governors.

When probed on why Ondo and Anambra governors elected on the platforms of Labour Party and APGA were in attendance, Akpabio said he personally invited them.

Giving a report of what they discussed with the president, he said Jonathan noted that insecurity is a national issue and resolved to meet all the 36 state governors at the State House next Wednesday.

The governor stressed that security issues should not be politicised.

The attendees at today’s meeting were the governors of Akwa Ibom, Abia, Ondo, Anambra Katsina, Taraba, Cross River, kogi, Kaduna, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Gombe, Plateau, Jigawa, Deltan, Enugu and Benue.

All the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors were absent at the meeting.
