Ogun Pilgrims Arrive Mecca Mecca, Perform Lesser Hajj

A total of 714 Ogun State pilgrims in this year’s Hajj exercise arrived the city of Mecca early this morning and have performed Umrah, the lesser Hajj at the Holy Makah Al Mukarrama Mosque in continuation of the religious rites.

OGIS correspondent in Mecca, Alhaji Qudus Kafidipe reports that the delegation which departed Medina arrived at the Ogun State lodge at 12.30 this morning and was led by Imam Noah Sodeinde to perform the lesser Hajj which included the Tawwaf round the Holy Khabba and the Safar round the Holy Mosque.

Addressing them shortly after the rites, Imam Sodeinde enjoined them to spend quality time to make supplication and offer prayers for continued peace and development of the State and the Nigerian nation in general.

The cleric admonished them to make moderation their watchword throughout their stay and to observe the remaining Hajj rites in accordance with the teachings of Prophet Mohammed and as stipulated by the Holy Quran.

In a chat with our man afterwards, a pilgrim, Oba Wasiu Ogungbayi, lauded the State’s Pilgrims Welfare Board for the smooth arrangements made for transporting pilgrims from Medina to Mecca and the accommodation provided which he said make them feel “at home away from home”.
