IGP Orders The Redeployment Of 14 Cps To Commands And Formations, Leaves Controversial Rivers CP


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, has ordered the redeployment of fourteen Commissioners of Police (CPs) to Commands and Formations, sending six Assistant Inspector General (AIGS) and thirteen Commissioners of Police (CPs) on capacity building course in a bid to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for greater efficiency and performance against crime fighting.
The affected CPs have been urged to vigorously step up the fight against all forms of criminality in their new Commands and Formations. They are enjoined to leverage on the cordial relationship among sister security agencies in their respective beats, to ensure that criminal activities are reduced to the barest minimum. They have also been charged to ensure that officers and men under their supervision are mindful of the rights of the citizenry, while cultivating the trust and confidence of the public in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.

Interestingly, the controversial Commissioner of Police in Rivers state still enjoys his protection from the powers that be as the present reshuffling does not affect him. It may interest you to know that the Commissioner of Police have played partisan role in the recent crisis that have embroiled the state, supportin the anti-Amaechi hoodlums that have been causing mayhem in the state.

In another development, the IGP has ordered Six (6) Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Thirteen (13) Commissioners of Police (CPs) from various Police Commands and Formations, including Zonal Commands and Force Headquarters, to proceed on a Leadership and Strategic Management Course for senior officers. The Course being conducted at the Centre for Management Development, Shangisha, Lagos, commences today, 19th August, 2013 and ends on 23th August, 2013.

The Course is geared towards equipping the senior officers with requisite leadership and managerial skills necessary for driving the vision and mission of the current Police Management in line with ongoing reforms of the Federal Government. Training and re-training of Officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force is a cardinal policy of the present Police administration.
