Kwara political ‘war-lord’, Olusola Saraki is dead

Olusola Saraki, the political ‘war-lord’ of Kwara politics, is dead.

Mr. Saraki who was the Leader  of the Nigerian Senate during the second republic, died Wednesday morning at the age of 79 in Lagos.

Mr. Saraki controlled the politics of Kwara State for about two decades until he was displaced as kingmaker by his son, Bukola, a serving senator, in the 2011 general elections who made sure his half-sister Gbemisola Saraki didn’t succeed him in office as the next governor of the state.

The singular move of rejecting his father’s daughter to succeed him was said to have cause a huge disagreement between the father and son.
